[Technical tips] BIOS Configuration for Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3

In this article, we will use VDX3-6754 PC/104 with DM&P SoC Vortex86DX3-1GHz processor to allow you understand how to configure the BIOS the way we needed so that Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 can be fully booted. The VDX3-6754 features AMI BIOS.

AMI BIOS

AMI BIOS is the IBM PC-compatible BIOS developed by American Megatrends. It is used on motherboards made by AMI and by other companies. AMI BIOS features a smaller footprint, fast boot times, efficient power management features and support for a wide set of features.

※ The BIOS architecture is differently depending on the motherboard design, so you may check the user manual, which may describe the appropriate basic BIOS settings, or contact your motherboard manufacturer.


BIOS Configuration for Windows Embedded CE 6.0

Make sure the following and make sure to choose the one that is Underline.

  1. Enter the BIOS menu, once you press
    Delete
    or
    DEL
    to enter the BIOS setup.
  2. Advanced ➔ IDE Configuration ➔ IDE Operate Mode ➔ Legacy Mode
    Tip9 Tip9
  3. Advanced ➔ Serial/Parallel Configuration ➔ SB Parallel Port ➔ Disabled
    Tip9 Tip9
  4. Advanced ➔ USB Configuration ➔ Legacy USB Support ➔ Disabled
    Tip9
  5. Press
    F10
    to Save and Exit BIOS setting. and you can boot Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 successfully after the above steps.
 

※ If you need to use DOS, make sure to enabled Legacy USB Support.


You can install Windows Embedded CE6.0 successfully after the above steps.
