[Technical Tips] How to Install Android 11 on the EBOX-IMX8MM Mini PC

This guide provides a step-by-step procedure for restoring the Android 11 OS image to the onboard eMMC of the EBOX-IMX8MM using a Windows 10 host PC. Follow the instructions below to restore the system to its default operational state or recover from a corrupted OS installation.

Restore Android 11 on the EBOX-IMX8MM

This section provides a step-by-step guide to restoring the Android 11 OS image to the onboard eMMC of the EBOX-IMX8MM using a Windows 10 host PC.

 

▼ Restore the Android 11 OS Image to the EBOX-IMX8MM eMMC

  1. Use a jumper switching tool to set the EBOX-IMX8MM to Serial Download Mode.
    • Locate SW1 on the EBOX-IMX8MM and set the jumper configuration to Serial Download Mode according to your storage version, as shown in the photo below.

  2. Turn on your Windows PC, make sure the UUU tool is downloaded, and extract the Android 11 OS image package.

  3. Open Command Prompt (cmd) or Terminal as Administrator, then use the cd command to navigate to the directory containing the extracted Android 11 image files.

  4. Execute the uuu.exe uuu.lst command, then press Enter.

  5. Wait until "Known USB Device Appear..." is displayed, then connect the EBOX (without power attached) to your Windows PC using Cable A.

  6. Connect Cable A between the EBOX Mini PC and the Windows PC. The Windows PC will then automatically flash the Android 11 OS image to the EBOX Mini PC.

  7. Once the restoration process is completed, remove Cable A from the EBOX Mini PC.

  8. Use the jumper switching tool to set the jumpers back to Internal Boot Mode.

  9. Power on or reboot the EBOX-IMX8MM to boot into the Android 11 operating system.
