[Technical tips] Use Console Redirection with Vortex86 platform

This article will provide instructions on using Console Redirection on the Vortex86 platform to provide access from a PC.


Hardware requirement:

  1. VDX3-6754 or other Vortex 86 Board
  2. A PC with a COM port and Windows OS w/Hyper Terminal (this example will be using Windows 10)
  3. A D-sub 9 pin Female to Female Cable.

Enabling Console Redirection on the VDX3-6754:

  1. Power on and then press
    Del
    to access BIOS settings.
  2. Enable Remote Access from BIOS settings.
    Please go to AdvancedRemote Access and set to
    [Enable]

  3. Press
    F10
    to save the BIOS settings.

Configure PuTTY in Windows 10:

  1. Download the PuTTY from PuTTY's official website: putty.org.

  2. Run PuTTY.

  3. Choose the correct COM port (on your PC side; ex: COM3 in this article) and set the speed to 115200.

  4. Restart the VDX3-6754, and you will see the boot up screen from PuTTY on your PC.

  5. You can press the
    Del
    key on your PC to enter the BIOS settings of the VDX3-6754.

  6. Or you can press the
    F11
    key to choose the boot device.
