ICOP is proud to support accessible and inclusive sports by sponsoring the development of a new out-and-back device and warning light system, created by the team at 黃信惠的瘋狂教室. These completed devices have already been delivered to the Taipei School for the Hearing Impaired to enhance the experience of participants in competitions where traditional audio cues may not be suitable.
The new out-and-back device enables students—especially those with hearing impairments—to successfully complete out-and-back runs without relying on sound. Instead, the system uses a pair of warning lights that are red, yellow, green, and blue and can flash red-blue in pattern. These lights can be remotely controlled and also serve as a starting device for races or physical assessments, ensuring clear, visual cues for all participants.
This project reflects ICOP’s broader commitment to community-driven innovation. By supporting educational teams working on accessibility solutions, ICOP aims to empower students and educators through practical technology that removes barriers and enhances participation.
ICOP is also now actively working on a new project that integrates LoRa modules with the 86Duino Zero platform to develop an emergency warning light system for school dormitories, further extending its mission to create safer, smarter educational environments.
ICOP extends sincere thanks to the YouTube channel “黃信惠的瘋狂教室” for his creative and technical contribution to this collaboration. Using Arduino and open-source hardware, Mr. Huang personally designed and built the out-and-back device and warning light system, making it possible for students at the Taipei School for the Hearing Impaired to participate in sports in a safer and more inclusive environment.
“黃信惠的瘋狂教室” is a channel dedicated to maker education, hands-on STEM projects, and innovative applications of Arduino.
