[Technical tips] Use Windows PC Remote Access EBOX Mini PC BIOS

This article shows when a user wants to use Windows PC remote access to the BIOS.

Preparation:
1. Windows PC x1 pcs. (Demo with 64-bit Windows 11 PC)
2. EBOX Mini PC (with RS-232 port) x1 pcs. EB-3362-C2G2
3. Putty utility (Windows version) download from https://www.putty.org/
4. Converter cable x1 pcs. (RS-232 DB9 Female Serial Adapter to USB cable)

Operation Video

EBOX BIOS setting

Enter BIOS menu → Advanced→Remote Access Configuration → Enabled

Press DELETE during EBOX boot up and enter BIOS menu.
Move to Advanced → Remote Access Configuration.
Set Remote Access to Enabled, and press F10 to save and exit.

Install Putty on Windows PC:

Download "putty-64bit-0.78-installer".
Click “Next” to continue.
Use default folder or change to another, then click “Next” to continue.
Click “Install” to install Putty files.
Click “Finish” after installation process completed.

Remote access from Windows PC to EBOX Mini PC:

Connect EBOX (RS-232) to Windows PC (USB) with converter cable.
Open the Quick Link menu with Windows logo key + X, move to Device Manager.
Identify newly connected COM port from Ports (COM & LPT) and system detected COM3.
Next, execute Putty and set “Serial” as Connection type.
Set Serial line as COM3, Speed at 115200 and click Open.
Hyper terminal screen pop out and showing EBOX booting up message.
